About the team

The team is made up of nine members including the team leader. The team leader is Dr. Maisa Elgamal. Her research works, and the related publications focused on sequestration, water desalination, storage of carbon dioxide, sulfur concrete production and application. The other team members are Eng. Suhaib (Chemical Engineer), Dr. Sawsan (Mechanical Engineer), Eng. Vasilia (Civil Engineer and Environmental), Dr. Ayisha (Chemistry), Eng. Ameera (Chemical Engineering), Eng. Noran (Chemical Engineering) and two undergraduate Emirati students in Environmental Science from Zayed University.

Technical Information

Materials: Brine water, sulfur, sand, bitumen, industrial by-products, all are waste materials (costless), consumables for bacterial and viral assays.

▪ Equipment:
New integrated carbonation reactor of capacity 3000-4000 L per day and demonstrate the ability to scale the solution to handle 20000 m3 per day and will be locally manufactured.
Sulfur concrete mixer machine designed and will locally be manufactured.

d. Thermogravimetric analysis
